today is the national day of romania . also called the union (or is it unification ?) day . it marks the unification of transylvania , basarabia and bucovina with the romanian kingdom in 1918 . at december 1st 1918 the assembly of ethnic romanians held in alba iulia declared the union of transylvania with romania . this national holiday was set in 1990 .
usually , it means a military parade in the morning , a show in the council square in the evening , a flag at each light pole on the main streets , stupid tv shows , the official christmas decoration lighting up and fireworks . but let me tell you , it's not fun to have the national day in the winter .
today is also the theme day - bridges . we don't have a river so the only so called bridges are the ones over the railway trails and i don't have any picture of those . so , although i didn't register for the theme day , i post the next best thing , an arch , part from the defence walls of the old town .

Happy Romania Day! That arch photo is gorgeous (and it almost looks like a bridge).
Would like to see any National Day parade or council square show photographs, if you snap any. The arch is very lovely with its scenic walkthrough.
